Youth-on-the-Move Educational International Reunion

Youth-on-theMove held a reunion in Sacramento, Ca, in July 2010.  The purpose was to bring together elder Hall of  Famers and the youth to plan on-going activities. The oldest attendee was Mother Mohammed, aged 113, and the youngest was a 3 year old.  Youths and seniors communicated together and shared ideas for the future.

There are plans for a Hall of Fame Museum, Archives, Library, Social Center and Guest House in Sacramento. Mr. Al Wilson, the Board Treasurer,  announced the new Sacramento Headquarters of Youth-on-the-Move in Rancho Cordova, CA, beginning July 1, 2010.

The Sacramento Observer Newspaper sent a reporter to take photographs and to publish a story. Hall of Fame Educators Dr. Lorraine Boykin traveled from Memphis, TN, while  Carolyn Stokes and Ida Dunson came from the San Francisco Bay Area--where there is also a a Bay Area Branch of the Hall of Fame for Educator.

It was a fun weekend.  The founder is Dr. Patricia Adelekan, DTM

Dear Reader:

We are looking for all past and present members of Youth-on-the-Move, Inc.(YOMI) which began in summer, 1986, in Sacramento, California by Eric Murrell, Dr. Patricia Adelekan and Principal Lezell Williams. At first YOMI was called the “Young Brothers’ Association” (for boys only), then we created the girls only group called “Young Princesses.” These two groups merged to become Youth-on-the-Move, Inc. in Fall 1986, thanks to Board Member, JJ Jones.

In February, 1987, Youth-on-the-Move, Inc. (YOMI) was incorporated as a nonprofit public benefit organization in Sacramento, California at the Secretary of States Office. In Dec. 1987, it became a federally recognized exempt 501 (c)(3) nonprofit youth education organization under the IRS. In 2002, we also became an exempt Foundation.

This year, 2009 is our 23rd anniversary, and we have accomplished much over the years. We are trying to locate anyone who has ever been affiliated with Youth-on-the-Move, Inc. as a member, mentor, tutor, donor, parent, friend of, sponsor, grantor, Board Member, Hall of Famer, etc.

If you or anyone you know has ever been affiliated with YOMI, kindly give us the following information by snail mail, email or on our blog. My phone is 714-628-9844. We are getting ready for a publication entitled “Youth-on-the-Move, Inc.: Where are They Today”? We are also planning a Grand Get-Together where everyone can be showed-cased, network, and just have fun. Please fill out the following and if you have Photos, please send them, too:
